About 5 1/2 years ago my uncle gave me his old 1st Edition "RedBox" Starter Set,
Now keep in mind i was only 11 so i couldn't comprehend the vastly complex rules however i still had fun looking at the maps, creatures, and the dice. the dice where the strangest thing in terms of gaming that i had ever seen, The complex rule set kind of discouraged me from D&D so for the next year or so i kinda forgot about it.
Now fast forward about 1 year when a gaming store was having a class on how to play D&D, So when i got there it was me some other guy and our Dungeon master, the DM let us choose what class we wanted to play as, Naturally i picked Rogue because i have always found silent killers to be interesting(that probably played into my love of snipers nowadays :3). My "Partner" or "Party Member" or whatever you want to call him chose a Warrior. the class was only supposed to last 1 hour but it lasted more like 2 hours, And at that point i fell in love with the game. When we left the class our DM gave us each a miniature to get us started with our collection, the mini i got was a Elf Swashbuckler. About 2 months later i bought the D&D V3.5 Starter set and started learning the rules, I wanted to be the DM, The Controller, God, so i started to play a watered down version with a bunch of friends. (i say Watered Down because i still didn't understand most of the rules.). and that was fun however i had a lack of miniatures so i started buying the booster packs and other D&D memorabilia.
Now fast forward to present day when i have roughly over 300 Miniatures and 15 books, not to mention the abundance of maps and dungeon tiles as well.
And thats how i got started with Dungeons And Dragons
